Notification of Nominations and Special Election for UA Local Union 393 Business Agent (remainder 2019-2021 term), Recording Secretary, Finance Committee Member, and Delegates to the 100th CA State Pipe Trades Council Convention

Nominations for UA Local Union 393 Business Agent (remainder 2019-2021 term), Recording Secretary, Finance Committee Member, and Delegates to the 100th CA State Pipe Trades Council Convention will be held on Wednesday, January 08, 2020 at the UA Local 393 Union Hall, located at 6150 Cottle Road, San Jose, CA.

Blank nomination forms and information packets will be available January 02, 2020 and will remain as such until one-half hour after the close of the regular monthly membership meeting on Wednesday, January 08, 2020.

Completed nomination forms will not be accepted until 8:00 a.m. on January 08, 2020 and until one-half hour after the close of the regular monthly membership meeting.

Members eligible to run for office must have a completed nomination form turned in at the UA Local 393 Union Office or in the Union Hall between the hours stated above.

Completed nomination forms may be faxed, emailed or hand delivered by yourself or another UA Local 393 member:

• If you are faxing the completed form, please fax the completed form to (408) 225-3405 to the attention of Conrad Pierce and include a valid fax number along with the form as a confirmation fax will be sent to you after it is received at the UA Local 393 Union Hall.
• If you are emailing the completed form (a PDF of the completed form or a digital photograph of the completed form will be accepted), the email needs to be sent to: election@local393.org. A confirmation email will be sent to you acknowledging that your form has been received at the UA Local 393 Union Office.
• During the January 08, 2020 Union Meeting, members nominating other members from the floor will be done under “New Business.” If the nominee is present, the nominee must then decide to accept or reject the nomination. If the nominee accepts, he/she must fill out the nomination form on the night of the Union Meeting before thirty (30) minutes after the Regular Membership Meeting.
• If the nominee is not present during the nominations from the floor, the nominee must contact the UA Local Union 393 Election Committee in person and complete the nomination form at the Union Office, 6150 Cottle Road, San Jose, CA by the close of the business day (5:00 p.m.) on Thursday, January 09, 2020.

After nominations close, the UA Local Union 393 Election Committee will pick at random, the placement of the nominees to be placed on the ballot for the Special Election of UA Local Union 393 Business Agent (remainder 2019-2021 term), Recording Secretary, Finance Committee Member, and Delegates to the 100th CA State Pipe Trades Council Convention.

All Nominees are invited to watch the placement on the ballot.

NOMINATION ELIGIBLITY: No member shall be eligible to be nominated for office in UA Local Union 393 unless he/she is a Journeyperson member and has been a member of the United Association and the Local Union in good standing for at least a period of two (2) years immediately prior to the election. Any Journeyperson member who owes or has paid a reinstatement fee within a period of two (2) years immediately prior to the date of election shall not be eligible to be nominated for office in the Local Union.

Any questions or concerns should be directed to the UA Local Union 393 Election Committee President, Jim Johnston, Chairman, Vince Audino, Co-Chairman, John Dodds or Election Judge, Les Haraguchi. The Election Committee will determine the eligibility of all candidates.

SPECIAL ELECTION for UA Local Union 393 Business Agent (remainder 2019-2021 term), Recording Secretary, Finance Committee Member, and Delegates to the 100th CA State Pipe Trades Council Convention will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. (Noon) to 8:00 p.m. at the Union Hall, 6150 Cottle Road, San Jose, CA.

VOTING ELIGIBILITY: All initiated members of UA Local Union 393, other than first, second and third year apprentices, who have been in good standing for the period of one (1) year immediately prior to the date of the election (02/12/2020) are eligible to vote.

In the event of a tie and a runoff is necessary, the date of election for runoff shall be on Thursday, February 13, 2020 from the hours of 12:00 p.m. (Noon) until 8:00 p.m. at the UA Local 393 Union Hall.

The 100th CA State Pipe Trades Council Convention will be held at the Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa. Prior to the convening of the Convention, there will a Training Seminar held on Wednesday, May 13, 2020.
