Important Union Updates for June 2020

June 8, 2020

Dear Local 393 Members and Contractors,

During the coronavirus pandemic, we will be providing information to help navigate this crisis and receive important union updates. This will be done via email blasts and communications posted here on our website ( www.ualocal393.org ). Please make sure you have all of the pertinent information we have provided by reading the communications posted on our website beginning March 16, 2020.

Below are our latest updates:

UA Local 393 Annual Picnic

The picnic is cancelled this year. We look forward to celebrating again soon.

Non-Working Dues

Non-working dues for the month of May 2020 are waived.

Santa Clara Valley Water District

After a two year fight, on May 26, 2020, the Water District approved a Project Labor Agreement with the Building Trades Council. This agreement will cover a $6 Billion dollar Capital Improvement Program. Thank you to members of UA Local 393 for spending many hours advocating for this agreement. It will provide significant work for our union for many years.

City of San Jose

In addition to negotiating with City Staff to develop a Responsible Contractors Ordinance, there are development projects we are monitoring to secure increased market share. On June 16, 2020, the San Jose City Council will vote on the proposed City View project being developed by Jay Paul – click this link for project details. UA Local Union 393 supports this project because it will be built using a skilled and trained union workforce. More information will be shared for members that would like to speak in favor of the project.

Support for Members

A friendly reminder that members should utilize our UA Local 393 Member Advocate if you need support or information about resources during these challenging times. Please contact Nancy Ferguson at 393@memberadvocate.org or (408) 225-3030 extension 26 for assistance.

Campaign for a Secure Future
