UA Local 393 Strike Notification – 07/08/2021

July 8, 2021

Dear UA Local 393 Sisters and Brothers,

We had a Special Called Meeting last night on Wednesday, July 7, 2021. At the meeting, the membership voted to reject the Last, Best and Final Offer from NCMCA and UMIC (Northern California Mechanical Contractors’ Association and Industrial Contractors – UMIC Inc.) and the contractors they represent. The membership then voted to continue striking these organizations and the contractors they represent.

So, 393 members employed by any of the contractors represented by NCMCA and UMIC are still on strike, with a few exceptions.

A communication listing all the contractors represented by NCMCA and UMIC was emailed to all our members and posted on our website on June 26, 2021. A communication listing all the projects covered under PLA’s was emailed to all our members and posted on our website June 26, 2021 (these agreements are negotiated through the Santa Clara and San Benito Counties Building Trades Council).

While we are still continuing to strike, UA Local Union 393 is ceasing all picketing. Our picket actions have served their purpose for now. If any member who was involved in a picket action is in possession of an official 393 picket sign, please return it to the union hall.

393 residential plumbers are not subject to this strike since they work under a separate, unrelated contract.

Sincerely,

Steve Flores
Business Manager
