Fill the Foxhole: Send Names of Active Duty Family & Friends to Receive Boxes

September 8, 2021: Fill the Foxhole was created in 2013 to send boxes of items, including letters from 440 members’ young children, from ‘home’ to the deployed troops during the Christmas holiday. It was spearheaded by Local 440 Instructor, Ralph Culver, along with his wife, Alice. They recruited apprentices to help, to model them in the generous and community-minded ways of the UA.

Since the initial mailing of 50 boxes, the Fill the Foxhole project has grown every year. In 2019, over 600 boxes were sent to troops who were away from home during the holidays. The program was suspended in 2020 due to COVID, but is on track again for 2021.

If members have any family members or know of friends who are currently on active duty, we are asking you to send those names and mailing addresses to us. The boxes are sent both domestically and internationally, so it doesn’t matter where they are deployed. Ideally, we need the names and addresses to reach us by November 30, 2021.

Please help us make 2021 another great year of showing the troops that they are not forgotten and that their sacrifices for our freedoms are appreciated!

Names and addresses for active military personnel should be emailed to fillthefoxhole@ualocal440.org, or mailed to:

Fill the Foxhole UA Local 440 1521 Brookville Crossing Way Indianapolis, IN 46239

We are not currently seeking donations, but if you would like to contribute to our charitable efforts, you may send any donations to Fill the Foxhole at the address above. Fill the Foxhole is a charitable 501 (c)(3) organization.
