UA Local 393 Organizer Position


UA Local 393 announces that resumes will be accepted for the position of Organizer.  All organizers will be employed by UA Local 393 and will take direction from the Business Manager.

Members in good standing of UA Local 393 who meet the criteria below are invited to apply. 

Resumes must be emailed to Eric Mussynski at Eric@local393.org NO LATER THAN March 28th, 2025, by 5:00pm.   (Please reference “Organizer Position” in the subject line of your email).  All applicants will receive a date and time for the interview which will take place the week of April 14th, 2025, at UA Local 393’s Union Hall at 6299 San Ignacio Avenue San Jose, CA.

Job Description

The duties of Organizer include the following, at the direction and under the supervision of the Business Manager:

  • Research potential organizing targets.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication networks.
  • Visit potential members at their homes to discuss the benefits of unionization.
  • Create and maintain lists and charts, including the use of computerized database systems.
  • Collect target data and information.
  • Prepare and present clear, concise, and complete verbal and written reports.
  • Recruit new members.
  • Identify potential activists and provide resources and mentoring to support organizing campaigns.
  • Develop flyers, posters, buttons, slogans, and other campaign related materials and items.
  • Provide COMET training to members.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the National Labor Relations Act and important case law, and attend training as directed.

The requirements of the job are as follows:

  1. Willing to work nights/weekends/holidays as necessary.
  2. Must be willing to travel as necessary.
  3. Knowledge of social media such as Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Snapchat.
  4. Ability to text and group text.
  5. Must have a good driving record.
  6. Must have good communication skills.
  7. Must have good leadership skills and the ability to motivate others.
  8. Must be a self-starter.
  9. Must be willing to apply and work at non-union shops as a salt.
  10. Must be willing to be away from home for extended periods of time as needed.
  11. Being fluent in both English and Spanish is a plus.
